S. Yusuf, 111b: Who Will Discover The Treasure?

In their stories, there is truly a lesson for people of reason. This message cannot be a fabrication, rather a confirmation of previous revelation, a detailed explanation of all things, a guide, and a mercy for people of faith. Surah 12, Ayah 111.

  1. The singular form of “ALBAAB” is “LUB”. In Arabic, the essence of something or the purest part of something is called its “LUB”.

  2. The inside of something like fruit is the purest part of it and also it is the softest part of it. So, core, pure, and soft are the three main ideas that come under the word “LUB”.

  3.  An uncorrupted/pure mind is called “LUB”.

  4. Every pure mind is “LUB”, but every mind may not necessarily be “LUB”.

  5. Some scholars say that “LUB” is only used for intellect because it is a unique power of human beings.

  6. The people of pure intellect are described as the people who are not affected by whims, overwhelming emotions, superstitions, etc.

  7. Everyone has pure intellect but sometimes it may get corrupted due to external factors(parents, environment, etc).

  8. After studying the Qur'an closely, it is found that there is a very close relationship between the heart and the mind.

  9. A person may have a pure heart but the intellect is corrupted.

  10. In contrast, a person may have a pure intellect but have a corrupted heart.

  11. So, it is concluded that having "LUB" includes a pure intellect and a pure heart.

  12. The tragedy of oversimplifying the Arabic language is seen in the word "KAANA". In grammar today, it just means "was". But in classical Arabic language, it is used to establish something that actually exists.

  13. The interpretation would be "These stories actually have a powerful lesson which will move you to tears and will help you cross over many situations in your life."

  14. It is not the events of the stories that are established here, rather it is the fact that there is a powerful lesson in these stories that will move you to tears and will help you cross over many situations in your life.

  15. The word "KAANA" is in masculine form even though the word it refers to(" 'IBRAH") is feminine. When the noun is further apart, then you can use the opposite form.

  16. The benefit of "KAANA" being masculine is that the masculine form is considered inclusive. So, the stories have a profound lesson but they also have miracles, guidance, warning, proof of the truth of the Qur'an, etc.

  17. So, the profound lesson is the starting, there are many more things you can find in the stories.

  18. By highlighting " 'IBRAH", Allah wants us to first focus on is the lesson for you and me personally.

  19. The closest to this Ayah is found at the beginning of the Surah where Allah says "In Yusuf and his brothers, there are "AAYAT"(signs) for those who ask questions."

  20. The purpose of "AAYAT"(signs) is to guide you in the right direction. The verb form of " 'IBRAH" means to cross over to reach your destination.

  21. Allah says that in the story there are signs that will lead you in the right direction and now Allah says in each of those signs there is a way in which you will come to the right conclusion.

  22. In the beginning, Allah says "for those who ask questions." and in the end, Allah says "for the people of sound minds and hearts." There is a parallel being made here.

  23. Allah is describing the people who ask questions by saying people of sound minds and hearts.

  24. Now, there is an important thing to note here and that is the reason that you are asking questions. The reason should not be to prove your point to someone or to insult them. It should be to enrich yourself by feeding your mind and heart pure food.

  25. Stories are the most powerful and unique form of human communication. But there are different kinds of stories. Not all stories give you " 'IBRAH", that don't have "AAYAT". Think about what being exposed to these kinds of content does to your mind and heart.

  26. Forget things that are made for adults, even content made for kids is so immersive. We are so immersed in these virtual worlds that what is real doesn't matter to us. This stuff keeps us from being people of sound minds and hearts.

  27. The Internet has made questionable contents available to us within seconds. This same platform can be used to spread the Qur'an and to spread ugly content.

  28. We are in a constant battle in our minds. Whether we watch something or not, our mind is always doing something. Shaitan is always whispering in our minds, that is something that will always be there.

  29. The only thing we can do to detoxify our minds from the whispers of Shaitan is actively remembering Allah. That is when we will learn how to ask the right kinds of questions. That is when we will become people of sound minds and hearts.

  30. There are some people that Allah has given less exposure to the corruption of hearts and minds. The people who have this incredible gift have a responsibility for themselves and others to decode and teach the lessons embedded in these stories. This is a responsibility for them.

  31. The ability to have opportunities to think, understand, teach the lessons is an exceptional gift that comes with a huge responsibility.

  32. And even if we don't have that gift, we must try to do as much as possible. The Prophet(SAW) said, "Convey from me even if it is an Ayah". It is about time that we start doing this.

  33. When you start thinking about the stories and putting their references in your own life, you will have a unique connection with them.

  1. Nice work 👍
I have not seen the video yet but I think there is a small typo error in the description.

In the description you wrote Ayah 110 but in the video title it says 111.

    Please check it.
    Jazāk Allāhu Khayran.
